How it works

Four things, and none of them are setting up an app.

Hoofiness is built for a phone held in one hand in a barn with the other hand full. Everything below is designed around that, and around the fact that yards have no signal.

1

Add your horse

Name, breed, age, height, colour and sex, and a photograph. Then the things people ask for at the worst moment — microchip number, your vet's number, and any allergy, with severe ones flagged in red so a groom or a sharer cannot miss them.

Two minutes, once. Everything after this is logging, not setting up.

2

Record it as it happens

The feed, the dose, the weigh tape reading, the farrier's visit, the photograph of the lump on their hock. One entry at a time, in the yard, stamped with who did it and when. Photograph a vaccination card or a vet letter and the records are read out of it for you to check before saving.

Written to your phone first. No signal needed, nothing lost, nothing queued behind a spinner.

3

Share your horse with the people who handle them

A sharer, a loaner, a groom, the friend doing the Thursday turnout, or the yard. You choose exactly what each of them sees and which areas they can log. They add to the record and never rewrite it — and if you stop sharing, their access ends immediately without losing anything either of you recorded.

Every rule is enforced in the database, not hidden in the app.

4

Hand the whole history to your vet

One tap builds a printable PDF: identity, microchip, weight and body condition with the trend, allergies, the full health history, current medications, and the symptom diary with its photographs embedded. Print it, email it, or hand the phone over.

Built on your device, works offline, and free on every plan — including the free one.

Offline-first, and what that actually means

The record lives on your phone. Sync is a convenience.

Most apps put your data on a server and cache a bit of it on the phone, which is why they spin when you walk into a barn. Hoofiness is the other way round: every entry is written locally and is immediately, permanently yours. Sync copies it out when there is a connection, for the people you share with and for backup.

  • Every screen works with the phone in aeroplane mode
  • Reminders fire with the app closed, and survive a reboot
  • A dose marked as given from the notification is logged without opening anything
  • When signal comes back, everyone you share with sees it — in the order it happened

Two apps, one record

The yard and the owner are looking at the same horse.

Hoofiness Livery is not a separate system that emails you a summary. It is the same backend from the other side. What your yard records lands on the owner's own horse record; what the owner chooses to share appears on the yard's care sheet. Neither one retypes the other's work, and neither one can quietly overwrite it.

An owner without Hoofiness costs the yard nothing — the yard app works on its own. An owner with it stops being a person the yard has to chase for a vaccination date.

And what Hoofiness will not do

Tell you what your horse needs. Hoofiness records what you and the people helping you put into it, and hands that to the person qualified to decide — your vet, your farrier, your dentist, your SQP. There is no diagnosis in this app and there never will be. What it can do is make sure that when someone qualified is standing in front of your horse, they are not working from memory.

Be there on launch day.

Hoofiness is coming to iPhone and Android. Leave your email and we will tell you the moment it is live.
