Privacy Policy

This explains in plain terms what Hoofiness collects, where it goes, and the choices you have. We update it as features ship, and the date above always reflects the current version.

Neither app has launched. Right now the only personal data we hold about anyone is what you send us through this website — a waitlist email address, or a contact message. Everything below about the apps describes how they work and will apply the moment you use one.

The short version

Hoofiness is offline-first. Everything you log — your horses, their health records, medications and doses, measurements, symptom diary entries, feed, allergies, documents and photographs — is written to a database on your phone. If you sign in on a paid plan, it also syncs so the people you share a horse with can see it. We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Data stored on your phone

Everything you log is saved locally first, and the whole app works with no connection. If you never sign in, that data stays on your phone and we cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it.

Data synced to the people you share with

If you sign in and your plan includes cloud features, a horse's records sync to our hosting provider (Supabase) and down to the phones of the people you have shared that horse with. Data is protected by row-level security, so only people you have shared with can read it — and only the areas you ticked can be changed by them. We store a display name alongside entries so the log reads as "Given 07:15 · Sarah".

On the free tier, photographs and documents stay on your phone. On a paid plan those files are uploaded to cloud storage so the people you share with see the actual file, not just its details.

Reading a vaccination card or vet letter

When — and only when — you use it, the photograph you choose is sent to our server and on to Google (Gemini) to extract the records, which are shown to you to check before anything is saved. The photograph is used to return that result and is not kept on our servers afterwards. If you never use this feature, no photograph leaves your phone through it.

Accounts

An account is only needed for sharing, sync and backup. We store your email address and a display name. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card details. To keep a subscription working across your devices we use RevenueCat to check with Apple or Google whether yours is active; they receive your account identifier and the subscription status, not your name, your email, or anything about your horses.

Livery yards

If your horse is at a yard using Hoofiness Livery, the yard sees only what you have chosen to share with it, and what the yard's own staff record about your horse. If you stop sharing, their access ends immediately. A yard's staff records are attributed to the member of staff who made them, for the same reason your household entries are: so the log means something.

This website

If you join the waitlist we collect the email address you give us and whether you keep horses, run a yard, or both. If you send a contact message we collect your name, email address and what you wrote. We use these only to reply to you and to contact you about Hoofiness, and you can ask us to remove them at any time. The website uses standard server logs and no advertising or analytics trackers.

What we never do

We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Security

Data sent to our servers travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Synced data is protected by row-level security so it is only readable by the people you shared with. Data on your phone is protected by your phone's own security.

Your choices and rights

Because your records live on your phone, you can view, edit or delete any of them in the app, and remove all of them by deleting the app. If you have an account you can permanently delete it and its data — see Delete your account. For anything we hold from this website, such as a waitlist email, you can ask us to give you a copy, correct it or delete it: email info@hoofiness.co.uk.

Children and young people

Hoofiness is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. An owner may share a horse with a younger family member under their own account, in which case the owner is responsible for that access.

Not veterinary advice

Hoofiness keeps records. It is not veterinary advice and it makes no treatment, dosing, shoeing or worming decisions — those belong with your vet, farrier, dentist or SQP.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page as the apps evolve and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site.
